These Minnesota High School Hockey Players Have the Best Hair in All of Sports
High school hockey teams around the country are competing for their respective state titles. In Minnesota, that means it’s time for the 2016 Minnesota State High School All Hockey Hair Team. Yes, you read that right.
Since 2011, an anonymous Minnesotan has ranked the athletes with the best hair, or what in hockey terms is referred to as flow, lettuce or just a good ole’ fashioned mullet.
For many hockey players, having their hair flow out the back of their helmet and wings coming through their earpieces is a source of pride. The more flow the better.
“Hockey and hockey hair is sort of our Minnesota super powers,” the creator of the All Hockey Hair Team said to the StarTribune. “They make us different. When you have six months of winter, you might as well have something awesome to do.”
ESPN hockey analyst and former NHL coach Barry Melrose—who himself has a legendary mullet—helped the anonymous fan of flowing locks determine whose hair reigned supreme.
And the athletes did not disappoint, bringing their A hair-game from top to bottom with a variety of magnificent flows and even a throwback to Ogie Oglethorpe from the classic hockey movie Slapshot. The winner was different from prior years, as it was a team effort with four uniquely awesome hairstyles.
The only downside to this video is we have to wait a year for the next one.
