The golden days of USC football seem like a distant memory.

Under Pete Carroll, the Trojans were a monster. Between 2002 and 2008, the program captured six BCS Bowl victories.

There were a couple strong seasons sprinkled throughout the past decade, but USC is still trying to regain their footing as a national powerhouse.

After going 5-7 last year, the Trojans currently sit at 8-4 with a match-up against Iowa in the Holiday Bowl looming. For a fanbase with high standards, that simply isn’t good enough.

To make matters worse, their recent recruiting has been a nightmare.

As of Thursday morning, USC’s 2020 recruiting class ranked 78th in 247 Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings.

Not only is that dead last in the Pac-12, but it’s behind schools like Bowling Green, Toledo and Troy.

USC currently owns a commitment from just one 2020 recruit ranked a 4-star or better. For context, Washington’s received 10.

Of course, plenty of college players have outperformed their star rankings, but USC fans are right to be concerned.

While the class will likely improve, as many highly-ranked prospects have yet to commit, there’s a good chance this winds up being one of—if not the—lowest-ranked class of the program’s modern era.
