Blair Redford, best known for the TV series Satisfaction and Switched at Birth, will star in the upcoming horror thriller VHS: Viral, the third installment of the VHS trilogy. The storyline ties together several different segments, including a mad illusionist, a machine gateway to a parallel universe, and a sinister group tracking a serial killer.
The first film, VHS, was well received by fans of the horror genre when it debuted at Sundance in 2012. The sequel VHS 2 was released last year.
“VHS: Viral‘ has the strength of its predecessors and continues to break new ground in the genre,” said Magnolia Pictures president Eamonn Bowles, as quoted by The Wrap. “This installment features terrific work from some very talented genre filmmakers.”
The cast also features Michael Flores (Let’s Be Cops), Justified’s Jason Wellborn, Amanda Baker (All My Children), and Carrie Keagan (Reno 911 and Big Morning Buzz Live With Carrie Keagan.)
Six filmmakers are credited with helping to direct the project and for contributing to the screenplay, including: Justin Benson (Resolution), Gregg Bishop (The Other Side), Todd Lincoln (The Apparition), Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl), Aaron Moorehead and Nacho Vigalondo, whose most recent credits include the film Open Windows.
VHS: Viral will hit theaters in limited release on Nov. 21.
