When you’re as small as Oakland University guard Kay Felder, you need something to help you stand out and make NBA teams feel comfortable taking a chance on you. For Felder, that’s the ability to jump to the moon.

At the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago on Thursday, the 5-foot-9 Felder hit 44 inches on his Vertical Jump, tying the record for second-best leap in Combine history. Felder’s explosive leaping ability should help improve the diminutive guard’s draft stock, which currently sits between pick 59 and 60 in several mock drafts.

Felder averaged 24.4 points and 9.3 assists per game during his junior year at Oakland University, including a 37-point outburst against No. 1-ranked Michigan State that put his game in the national spotlight.

Early word out of the Combine is that Felder helped his stock in more ways than showcasing his insane hops, including a strong showing in a five-on-five game against other prospects. Still, his ability to jump through the roof should ease at least a few NBA minds on the prospect of drafting such an undersized guard.
