WATCH: Michael Phelps Rocks a Speedo to Successfully Distract Oregon State Free-Throw Shooter
The Arizona State Sun Devils took on the Oregon State Beavers last night, in a basketball game that ended in a blowout. But the real highlight of the game came from the stands, not from action on the court.
During the second half, as OSU’s Stephen Thompson Jr. was preparing to shoot two free throws, it happened. Sun Devil fans held up their “Curtain of Distraction” behind the basket, waiting for the perfect time to show what was behind it. Just before Thompson shot, the fans pulled the curtain, revealing Olympic gold medal swimmer Michael Phelps, who lives in Tempe.
Before the first free throw, Phelps ripped off his shirt and pretended to swim. Before the second shot, fans pulled the curtain and Phelps ripped off his pants and jumped around in his Speedo.
With that kind of distraction, anyone would have missed. Which Thompson did. Twice.
