WATCH: Steph Curry Punched a Ref in the Face by Accident
It’s hard out here being an NBA ref. Players are always yelling at you. Coaches are always yelling at you. Fans say terrible things about your wife and kids. And sometimes, even when you do something to a player’s liking, he still punches you directly in the face.
Returning to the Golden State Warriors’ lineup after missing Games 2 and 3 of his team’s first round playoff matchup against the Houston Rockets, Stephen Curry got a little too hyped up after knocking in an and-one layup in the first quarter. Referee Zach Zarba, who was standing at the baseline to give Curry his foul call, ended up on the business end of the MVP’s explosive celebratory fist-pump. Curry’s fist hit Zarba in the face, accidentally of course.
Zarba appeared to be OK, but the incident provided another thing to add to the list of “Reasons Why You Should Never Become a Ref . . . Nope, Never.”
