Gaming Update: ‘WWE 2K14,’ ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ and ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’
Last week WWE 2K14 targeted Undertaker fans with the Phenom Edition; gamers found out they’d have to wait a little longer for Star Wars: Battlefront; and Batman: Arkham Origins upped the ante with a multiplayer mode.
2K Games Reveals WWE 2K14 Phenom Edition
2K Games has unveiled the Phenom Edition of the upcoming WWE 2K14. The limited-edition version celebrates The Undertaker’s inclusion in the game. It comes in a tin coffin box with an art card autographed by The Undertaker, a controller skin, a copy of the game, an Undertaker-The Streak DVD and a playable version of the veteran wrestler’s “American Badass” character.
The special bundle, which will be released Oct. 29, is currently available for pre-order at a price of $99.99. As an incentive to reserve a game early, pre-orders will also receive the Ultimate Warrior as a playable character.
Star Wars: Battlefront Coming in 2015
Star Wars: Battlefront will be released in 2015 to capitalize on Episode VII‘s theater run. EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed the news during a conference call with investors last week, saying that both titles should arrive during the summer.
“The first thing that we’re focused on is Battlefront. It’s a traditional game that’s done extremely well, and this will most likely come out around the same time as the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of 2015,” said Jorgensen, according to Eurogamer.
There aren’t many more details floating around just yet. It is clear, however, that Battlefront isn’t the only title in the works. Visceral Games is currently working on another game.
Batman: Arkham Origins Multiplayer Mode Unveiled
WBIE released a trailer last week introducing the multiplayer capabilities of Arkham Origins. The mode, dubbed “Invisible Predator Online,” pits the caped crusader and Robin against two player-controlled teams consisting of three goons led by competing villains Joker and Bane.
Batman and Robin become victors of the 2 vs. 3 vs. 3 mode by taking down goons, fighting captains and pressuring the Joker and Bane teams until the leaders withdraw their men. The other two teams battle to control the most turf, and players on both of those teams have a few tricks of their own up their sleeves. If the battle goes on long enough, Bane and Joker become unlocked.
The Batman: Arkham prequel will be released Oct. 25 for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. Unfortunately for Nintendo fans, Wii U will not get the multiplayer mode.
