Young Thug Signs with Cash Money Records

Atlanta rapper Young Thug has reportedly found a recording home. The Southern performer was highly sought after following the success of his singles “Stoner” and “Danny Glover.” He is now officially part of Cash Money Records. He confirmed the news during NBA All-Star weekend in New Orleans. As he was walking into a nightclub with Birdman, he reportedly told Mass Appeal, “Yeah. I signed [with Cash Money].”

The move isn’t too surprising. The young star had made it known that Lil Wayne is his favorite rapper. “That’s my idol,” he told Fader during a recent interview. Thus far, Cash Money has not released an official statement announcing the signing.

Chief Keef Calls Last Mixtapes “Mistakes,” Talks Rehab

During a recent interview with Billboard, embattled rapper Chief Keef reminisced about his recent contributions to music and talked about his time in rehab. According to the Chicagoan, his last mixtapes, Bang Part Two and Almighty So, came during his then-rampant drug use and are not his best work.

“My last two mixtapes were mistakes. I was on promethazine, all drugged out,” he revealed. “I was tweaking. I don’t sip the lean no more though.”

As for rehab, he’s currently in a private facility in Orange County, but the rapper doesn’t feel like the 90-day stint has been a walk on the beach. “It’s like being locked up. And when I’m locked up, I don’t want anybody to come see me. I won’t let my family come here. I haven’t seen my 2-year-old daughter,” he said.

Drake Feuds With Rolling Stone, Calls Out Macklemore

A recent sit-down with Rolling Stone landed rapper Drake in the headlines. In the interview, the YMCMB performer called out fellow rapper Macklemore for his apology to Kendrick Lamar. He questioned the sincerity of the message and expressed confusion over why Kendrick was the only one to receive a text. “It felt cheap. It didn’t feel genuine,” said Drake. “[and] to name just Kendrick? That s— made me feel funny. No, in that case, you robbed everybody. We all need text messages.”

Drake was supposed to be on the cover of the magazine but was bumped at the last minute due to the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. The slight rubbed the Canadian the wrong way, and he took to Twitter to vent. He later apologized on his official website and clarified the reason for his anger.

“I would have waited until it was my time because I understand the magnitude of the cover they chose, but I just wasn’t given that option and that made me feel violated,” he wrote.

Rick Ross Looks Back on Jeezy Beef

Rick Ross disclosed how he and Young Jeezy were able to move past their beef during a recent interview with HuffPost Live. Admitting that their beef wasn’t really based on much, Ross said that they got over their issues “to do something big for the culture.”

“It was a lot of misconfusion [sic] at the end of the day because me and him personally never had an issue, and I think that was one of the reasons we were able to really resolve this problem because we never really personally had an issue,” declared Ross. “Real bosses get over that and that’s what we did, and I’m happy we was able to do that and set the examples for some of the younger bosses that’s coming up and let ’em know it’s all about making that positive progress.”
